However, the loan did not become a permanent move and opted to join rivals Manchester City.

Tevez signed amid much publicity, but the relationship between the player and the club has gone sour.

He spoke of his desire to leave England in July to be closer to his family, but there was no agreement with any other team who had to stay in Manchester and settle for a small role-part in the plans of Mancini.

Ferguson is no stranger to conflict player and found himself in a position similar to Mancini in November 2001, when Paul Scholes refused to play after being selected in a weakened team in the League Cup defeat by Arsenal, a days after falling to defeat Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Ferguson said: "We've all experienced our own difficulties in managing and coping with it as best he can."

Manager Mancini, Tevez said he refused to come against Bayern Munich and Manchester City will again.

Striker blamed the "confusion in the bank," adding he was "ready to play."

Mancini decided not to comment on the matter on Friday but received strong support from Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson.

Tevez believes that players who were with him on the bench on Tuesday will back its history, despite having Sky Sports later that evening: "I did not feel right to play, so I did not."
