7-ton satellite is plungin to Earth, hopefully not knock on someone's back yard

The satellite known as the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS) is deployed from the space shuttle Discovery (STS-48) in September 1991.

Now, after 20 years, the late NASA satellite with a weight of 7 tons mamooth is expected to fall to Earth on Friday, September 23, 2011, showering debris somewhere on the planet, but scientists can not predict exactly where.

UARS operated for 14 years, collecting data on the ozone layer and other chemicals in the atmosphere. After completing his mission in 2005, the satellite has been slowly losing altitude, pulled by the gravity of Earth.

The satellite of 20 years, UARS research is expected to exceed more than 100 pieces, as it enters the atmosphere, most fire. Twenty-six of the most heavy metal is expected to reach Earth.

Hopefully the satellite debris will reach the sea, not in the populated area of the earth
