Release Review of Pan Am ": Lighter than air, but not bubble-headed?

Release Review of Pan Am ": Lighter than air, but not bubble-headed?

David Caruso needs of its brand sunglasses to look at the bright sky and look at CSI: New Miami Sunday night competition: elegant passenger aircraft from Pan Am, is a new series that is, to use a word that were used during the time when the show develops, kicky - fun, with the promise of something more.
The West Wing executive producer and director Thomas Schlamme directed Pan Am a dream vision of what was to be a flight attendant about the 1960, and its soft visual narrative did much to conceal the awkward dialogue and cheesy plot twists, like a married passenger boarding a flight attendant that contains the gamine (Karine Vanasse to pert) which has been having an affair with. Kate (Kelli Garner) is helping the CIA with a bit of espionage, and the Bay of Pigs disaster drags on providing a little heavy for a series seriously who really wants to be lighter than air.

The most attractive co-star is Christina Ricci, playing hostess to a rebel with a knowledge of Marxism (you can practically see his neck under his uniform black beatnik stew, and big dark eyes suggest Ricci evenings while hitting bongos recites the poetry of protest). In general, Pan Am juggling romance, espionage, and comedy in the subplots that take time to resolve. At this point, the show does not seem to know exactly what you want to be, and is experimenting with the tone and see what works and what does not. That's the kind of attitude that, if the tinkering is done well, could lead to an interesting series.
FALL TV: Get the latest news, photos, and more
Pan Am - along with the Playboy Club, which has already landed with a resounding failure in qualifying - suggest that the deep envy but almost inexplicable that television networks have to Mad Men, Matthew Weiner. The period drama has a lingering charm for network programmers, although it has not really worked for them, ratings wise, for a long time (rhythm Swingtown, Homefront, American Dreams) and if Pan Am were to get only size assessments Mad Men ABC, soon to become a death spiral in the cancellation.
The show could certainly do without a dialogue that tries to articulate what we want to believe it - at that time, the hostess led career as one of the pilots of the cornea, said without a hint of credibility, "an new breed of woman ... you just had an impulse to take flight. "Puh-Leese. What is the sale of Pan Am is a fantasy, or a reminder of envy of what life used to be like up, up and away - yes, children, actually used to be spacious seating and friendly service. (But then again, who wore a suit and tie or dress to fly, not sweat pants and shirts with Starbucks stains on them.) I'm intrigued enough to look again to see how the show shakes, what proportion of Spy vs romantic history will settle on. Right?

LSU Football: The case of State Tigers No. 1 with win over West Virginia.

But after Saturday's 47-21 victory against No. 16 West Virginia at Milan Puskar Stadium, LSU players probably would like to spend some time at home.
Most of the night the Tigers looked like the No. 1 team in the nation, especially in the final after beating a ranked team away from home for the third time in four weeks. But they had to overcome the "Air Raid" passing attack and Mountaineers quarterback Geno Smith, who passed for a school record-462 yards, the home team Tigers outgained 533-367.
Smith also established record of passes (65) and completions (38).
The Mountaineers (3-1) pulled to within a touchdown and extra point of the lead when Dustin garrison fell 1 yard for a touchdown to make the score 27-21 with 1:16 left in the third quarter.
However, Morris Claiborne LSU returned the ensuing kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown to push the Tigers back ahead by two touchdowns. LSU's defense came together to make a stop and the offense put two of four quarters of ice results in the game.
"I like the position we are in, but I do not think we're the best team in college football today," said coach Les Miles. "I think there is a hope and a need and desire to be there. I do not know if we're good enough right now to do whatever we want. That's putting the cart before the horse."
Jarrett Lee led the Tigers with 16 completions in 28 attempts for 180 yards and a career-high three touchdowns, all in the first half to help LSU to a 27-7 lead at halftime.
The LSU running game help grind it out in the end, like Spencer Ware and Michael Ford combined for 177 yards. Ford had scoring runs of 22 and 15 yards, the latter giving LSU a 40-21 lead in the fourth quarter. Alfred Blue scored on a 18-yard to kill the climbers.

yards but was left with four turnovers, two by Tyrann Mathieu, who made the best play of the game. With West Virginia playing third and 19 in their 25 with less than a minute left in the first half, Mathieu hit an interception and he, giving LSU the ball at the 1-yard West Virginia.
Two plays later, Lee threw his touchdown pass of the third part of the night, a 1-yard Chase Clement, who made the score 27-7 at halftime.
Lee also connected with Rueben Randle on a 11-yard scoring toss in the first quarter and threw a touchdown pass of 52 yards to Odell Beckham Jr. in the second quarter.
LSU looked like it was ready to turn off all lights in Morgantown, when they took the kick in the second half and went to West Virginia 10-yard line. Ware lost 3 yards on second down, then fell Randle what would have been fourth touchdown pass of the night Lee. To make matters worse, Drew Alleman hooked an attempted 30-yard field goal on the left, leaving the door open for the local computer.
West Virginia broke right in Smith led his team 80 yards for a touchdown with the help of a shovel pass 38 yards to Tavon Austin, who had 11 receptions for 187 yards.
Mountaineers stopped on three downs LSU and after an exchange of punts, Smith hit Austin for 72 yards to help set up the 1-yard run by Garrison.
LSU punter Brad wing was an unlikely hero. After missing two games with an injury, returned to half 48.7 yards on six punts. He had fallen in the West Virginia kicks 4, 5 and twice at 10.
Mathieu interception came in a move unlikely. LSU accepted a holding penalty to make it third and 19 instead of rejecting it and put the RCMP in fourth and five situation. Everything went very well.
Mathieu slipped into the slot to attack and time your jump perfectly when Smith returned to shoot the floor to the left. Mathieu hit the ball high into the air and ran under it easily. Austin could not escape, which located in the 1-yard line.
Lee added to his two-plays later, after Ware was unable to win the first opportunity. After a time with 31 seconds left, Lee pretended to Ware and ran to the right, spying Clement, who scored a touchdown of his career for the first time in his first sack of the season.
"Jarrett Lee played a good game," defensive end Bruce Irvin West Virginia. "He managed the game well and put their kids quiet when we started doing a little race. He keeps them together as a good quarterback does. "
Almost everything was long before LSU. The Tigers scored touchdowns on two of its first three possessions, with Lee connection 10 of 17 for 132 yards. Became plays on third down completions of 16 yards to 31 yards and Randle Beckham Randle before reaching the end zone for a 12-yard score with 10:05 left in the first place.
Brandon Taylor got the first interception of the University of Louisiana when he caught a deflected ball and returned it to midfield. This time LSU was on the floor and Ford unit covers a 22-yard run, making two excellent cuts and the creation of his blockers well.

Herman Cain wins the Florida Republican Party Straw poll

Herman Cain wins the Florida Republican Party Straw poll

Perry was the only candidate to file class all-in with the poll, organized by the Republican Party of Florida and held in Orlando. His supporters had targeted the 3,500 delegates and Mr. Perry himself had got some other candidates to avoid the event.

But Mr. Cain won the election with 37% of the votes 2657 votes. Perry finished a distant second with just over 15%.

Mitt Romney, who has been dueling with Mr. Perry about the status of front-runner in opinion polls nationally, in a close third in the Florida survey, with 14%. Romney is building a presence in Florida, but he said it is not actively campaigning in any poll.

Florida activists showed little enthusiasm for the representative Michele Bachmann, who took only 1.5% of the vote. Ms. Bachmann had won a poll last month in Iowa, where participants are believed to include a large number of conservative evangelical Christians.

Second Mr. Perry covers complete a difficult stretch for governor of Texas after he stumbled several times in a debate Thursday night, also held in Orlando. In interviews, many Florida Republicans said they had attended the debate back waiting for the governor of Texas in the poll. But reconsidered after his poor performance.

"I planned to support Rick Perry, but I was a little disappointed with his performance," said Fred Scheible, a delegate who helped former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani in 2008.

In the debate, Mr. Perry struggled to stop the attacks of his rivals and was repeatedly rebuffed by his chief rival, Romney, former governor of Massachusetts.

Perry also angered some conservatives standing next to a Texas law that had signed the illegal immigrants eligible for state tuition at the university. At one point in the debate, Mr. Perry suggested that opponents of the law "have a heart" - a line of Mr. Romney quickly adopted their own attacks against the governor of Texas.

"We were all looking at Perry as our knight in shining armor, but we are discovering that you have a burden," said Joyce Estes, a delegate from Apalachicola, before the vote. "The question is how much luggage can accept."

Polls show the race a two-man contest between Mr. Perry and Romney, triumph again catapult Mr. Cain in the presidential image after its offer languished during the summer.

Later, Mr. Cain praised the victory as "a sign of our growing momentum and that my application can not be ignored."

Perry entered the event with all the momentum. A Quinnipiac University poll released earlier this week gave Mr. Perry a nine point lead over Romney among Republicans in Florida, 31% to 22%.

In other results of the straw poll in Florida, Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum The former was fourth, with almost 11%.

TexasRon Representative Paul won just over 10%, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich won just over 8%.

The former Utah governor Jon Huntsman won just over 2%, ahead of Ms. Bachmann

The death of boxer Arturo Gatti: Suicide or murder?

The death of boxer Arturo Gatti: Suicide or murder?
To see them together is clear: Amanda Gatti life of her 3-year-old boy, Arturo Jr.

"He's all I asked God," said Amanda "48 Hours Mystery" correspondent Erin Moriarty in his first U.S. television interview. "Junior makes me complete."

In large part, he says, because it is the spitting image of his father ... a man who both are learning to live without it.

"The smile is the same ... just like his dad," he said. "I miss my husband. I miss him when I go to sleep ... I miss him when I wake up ..."

It is a loss even more difficult by the cloud of suspicion surrounding Amanda.

In July 2009, Amanda was arrested for murder and claimed to investigators stunned the world with their discoveries: Arturo Gatti, a world-class fighter who never gave up in the ring, had committed suicide.

"I knew. I knew. I knew," Amanda said in broken English. "My husband committed suicide. Oh my God, my husband committed suicide."

But even today, more than two years after Arthur's death, many friends, family and fans refuse to believe he committed suicide.

In late 2006, Arturo Gatti was crowned welterweight champion and amassed a fortune of several million dollars when, Amanda Rodrigues, then a struggling Brazilian immigrant, said that he knew the dogs walking near his home in New Jersey.

She says she had no idea who he was. "I remember when I learn that he was a fighter, I said ..." Oh ... I thought it was still a movie star ... but not a fighter ... because he was so cute ... ""

"Arturo was very special ... There was nobody like him." According to Tom Casino, a boxing photographer he'd met years before Arthur - shortly after the fight came down from Montreal. "He had the look of this little peanut."

But Arthur, then just 19, had his eye on the prize.

"Did you have any idea what kind of fighter who had become? Moriarty called Casino.

"No, I have no clue," he said. "Not until I saw him fight."

That happened a few months later in an amateur fight 19 years of age, Arthur took a much larger, more experienced fighter.

"The man could not beat him ... is pot-shotting the guy and then BANG suddenly like," said Casino. "He won and I was like 'Wow'. ... I've never seen anything like it. ... I knew this guy was going to be a champion."

And Arturo Gatti did just that - bobbing, weaving and punching his way to three world titles.

He won 40 fights - 31 by knockout. His relentless in the ring Arturo a crowd favorite. And outside the ring party as hard as he fought in it.

"I would get calls that Arthur did something crazy," said Moriarty Casino. "Everyone I met in the tri-state area had a history of the game with Arturo Gatti."

But it was his rivalry with a man who really made him a legend. "Irish" Micky Ward became a household name when actor Mark Wahlberg made a movie, "The Fighter" on Ward's life.

"I had three amazing fights with Arturo Gatti and in doing so became a good friend ..." said.

Ward-Gatti trilogy became the material of the tradition of boxing. Ward won the first fight, Gatti was the second.

"He caught me in the ear and found myself in the corner in this way," Ward showed in the ring of Moriarty, "and I went boom!"

And in his last fight, Gatti stunned the crowd by winning - with a broken hand.

"... Gatti is the poster boy of courage and heart," said Casino.

The battles fought Gatti Ward took the best of both.

"It showed that the two boys, and we can try to fight, win and who respect each other," Ward said.

The life and career of Gatti: Photos

Gatti showed that respect after the third fight when a battered room was being examined by an emergency physician.

"And it opens the curtain and says," We have someone here who wants to say hello to you. "The next bed is Arthur ... lying there, I also think he was stitched," Ward recalled.

"Well, put it there," said Moriarty.

"Yes, and I put in place. And the first thing outta his mouth, he says, 'Micky, are you okay?" And he showed me what a child ... What a guy. "

It would be the beginning of an extraordinary friendship.

That's why, to this day, Micky Ward I can not believe that Arthur may have committed suicide. "I can not see him take his own life," said Moriarty. "That's not it! ... Everything in life was going well for him."

In 2006, after nearly two decades in the ring, Arthur met Amanda. In less than a year, sat down, got a bottle of champagne ... "And then he asked me to marry him. ... I think it was one of the most beautiful moments of my life," he said.

Amanda Moriarty asked, "Have you seen him fight with him?"

"I just saw his last fight," she said.

In July 2007, Gatti, now 35 and plagued by injuries, is faced with a much younger Alfonso Gomez. It would last professional fight Arthur.

"And I remember I was so sad ... ... And he says," Baby, I want to be the wife of the champion. "And I said, 'Baby, you'll always be my champion."

Despite his new love, Arturo Gatti Boxing withdrawal was hit hard.

According to Casino "party, as he fought hard and heavy ...."

"48 Hours Mystery" reveals the truth about a man boxing the darkest shadows ... and headed for a fall.

"I knew that if I kept drinking something bad was going to happen," said Casino. "... I was inevitable."

Herman Cain Florida Straw poll win
By MICHAEL D. COURT
ORLANDO, Fla. - Herman Cain, former CEO of Godfather Pizza, won the poll of Florida today, defeating second, Rick Perry, governor of Texas after the activist group working with a breakfast speech am on Saturday.

Mr. Cain won nearly 40 percent of the 2657 people who voted, more than double the total of Mr. Perry and Mitt Romney, who finished a close third.

All candidates spoke to the crowd of Florida Republicans who gathered here for the Coalition of Faith and Freedom and the Conservative Action Conference rallies.

But Romney, former governor of Massachusetts, left the state early Friday for events in Indiana and Michigan, effectively telegraphing his campaign did not put much importance on the outcome.

Mr. Perry remained in Florida until Saturday morning and hosted the breakfast for conference delegates. Perry's Victory in the poll could have helped blunt criticism that has been building his debate performance on Thursday night.

Instead, victory went to Mr. Cain, who had whipped the crowd with a fiery speech on Friday afternoon that had the crowd on their feet for extended standing ovation.

In a statement, Mr Perry congratulated Mr. Cain, but criticized Romney.

"Floridians and the voters nationwide want a candidate who is clear on the issues and speaks honestly about the future, not someone who has multiple sides of an issue and changes views every election season," said Perry . "Today's vote shows that Floridians are energized and ready to help the United States to work again."

Representative Michele Bachmann, who has been struggling to recover from a series of disappointing performances since his victory in the poll of Iowa this summer, came in last place with only 1.5 percent of the vote.

This result is certain to add to their difficulties in raising money. Minnesota congressman has had some success in raising small donations, but has not convinced many high cost to donors to help fund his campaign, according to recent reports.

The survey also was a disappointment for Jon Huntsman, Utah's former governor, who made an argument to the meeting on Friday that the meeting should elect the person who is more electable against President Obama.

Instead, people elected Mr. Cain, who is behind Romney and Mr. Perry in national polls and in surveys in early voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire.

Mr. Cain's best hope may be in Iowa, where his message can resonate with voters and religious conservatives. If he can beat Ms. Bachmann and Mr. Perry that could boost his campaign, how to win Iowa by Mike Huckabee did in 2008.

Rick Santorum, former senator from Pennsylvania, was fourth in the vote, just ahead of Rep. Ron Paul of Texas. Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, came in sixth place.

Here is the statement of official results of the Republican Party of Florida:
